Ingredients
Here's what you need to make this recipe.
- apples -- I used Pink Lady Apples, but any kind will do. Go for medium-sized apples if you can.
- maple syrup -- For sweetness and flavor.
- cinnamon -- For flavor.
- vegan butter -- A little butter helps add richness to the dish.
- salt -- Just a bit of salt helps enhance the flavors.
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
Here are step-by-step instructions with photos.
Chop the apples into bites-sized cubes (about ½ inch cubes). No need to peel the apples!
Add the apple cubes, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt to a mixing bowl. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.
Add the apples to a lined air fryer basket. Break the butter into small chunks and drop them over the apples.
Cook the apples for 10 to 12 minutes on 400F or 200C. (No need to preheat!) Serve right away or let cool and store for later.
Hint: This recipe can get a bit messy. I recommend using an air fryer liner to keep more flavor on the apples and make cleanup a snap!
Variations
Here are some fun ways to switch things up!
- Raisins - add a handful or raisins or craisins for even more flavor and texture.
- Pears - try this recipe using pears instead of apples.
- Spiced Pecans - Add some crunch by topping them with these air fryer spiced pecans.

FAQ
I used Pink Lady Apples because they're my favorite and I love that they are both sweet and tart. But feel free to use any apples you have on hand.
I prefer to use air fryer basket liners because they're a perfect fit, but if you don't have that, you could use regular baking paper that's folded up at the edges.
Choose the air fryer that best meets your needs. Consider things like price, size, and functionality. I personally love my Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 Grill and Air Fryer, because it has a bigger capacity, which better suits my family of four.
